“The happier you are, the more beautiful you become”
Ever heard of this line?
When you are down in the ruts, having a bad day and your mood is all over the place, none of your old clothes fit, you feel far from beautiful. You feel ugly. Where did it all go wrong? How did you get that muffin top? You need to jump and squeeze into those jeans that you just bought not long ago.
When you gain a little weight, it starts to become depressing when nothing in your closet fits you like how it used to. Everybody else looks beautiful, while you look like a crumpled up flyer that nobody takes time to look at. Scrap that. Do you know what I think? As cliché as it may sound, beauty starts from the inside.
There is always that insecurity about yourself, how you walk may seem weird, your skin complexion, the way you talk. Let me tell you this, if you feel good on the inside, it will definitely show on the outside. Start to love yourself and know you are worth it.
Take care of your body by eating well and exercising. Unleash those bad toxins out of you. It does not matter what size you are, whether you are skinny, slim, petite, plus-sized.
I once had a friend, yes, had, who would scrutinise me from head to toe and nitpick my appearance. “You gained weight”, “You should get your eyebrows plucked” or “Ever heard of an upper lip wax?”, you name it. Well, wasn’t she observant?
When you surround yourself with people who exude so much negativity, what they say can get in your head and definitely brings you down.
Because of the words said about my appearance, I started to become conscious of my body. Walking past the mirror became an issue.
Nothing has to change about your physical appearance for you to feel beautiful with yourself. Do not let the comments shrink yourself down. You have something unique to give the world, and you cannot do that if you are too busy beating yourself up for not looking beautiful.
Here is the thing, you do not need to lose weight, cake your face with all the makeup you buy from Sephora, or buy new clothes. Believe in yourself and you will be able to see yourself clearly. Be so confident that you do not let the critics eat you up and you do not give a single damn what others think about your face, your body, your voice, or your style.
Let your inner state shine through you and you will feel so much joy and feel grateful to be alive. Your entire being will change and your true beauty will unquestionably show.
